A Word to the Wise - I've been Robbed

Nothing like having a great day and coming home to violation.  They slipped in probably by the dog door.  Took all, and I mean ALL, of my jewelry and most of Emily's.  They also took her ipad.  They left the two laptops alone.  They left all our artwork.  They even left the hydrocodone from Em's knee surgery last year...that was quite a surprise.  No damage to the house, no one injured or worse.  I am just really, really mad.  We do have an alarm system but they disconnected both the phone and cable lines.  They took a pillowcase off of Em's pillow and stashed the jewels in there.  They also took my delivered packaged from piperlime that was by the front door.  Bastards. So a few quick tips...

1.  Check your home owner's policy about jewelry.  Make sure you have enough. $10,000 is usually the basic plan.
2. Keep receipts and pictures of all your fine jewelry.
3. Keep a list of the serial numbers for all electronics...they can be traced if pawned.

I had some valuable pieces.  I also had some sentimental pieces and a few that can not be replaced.  I will never see the items and I'm okay with this.  The fact that some one entered my house uninvited is a completely different story.

  1. I'm SO sorry to here this. Did you have your daughter's ipad locator turned on? If so, the police will be able to trace it's location. Hope they find those bastards soon so no one else will have to go what you are going through. Glad everyone is ok though.

    1. We did have the locator on but when tracked it says it is off line. Oh well. I know I will go through all the "stages"... Right now I am in the pissed off stage about to go to sad. Just trying to focus on the positives, weird but a bit comforting.

    1. Besides my wedding set I do not have a single piece my husband has lovingly picked out and purchased for me over these many years. Em did bring me home a sterling silver heart necklace inscribed with "with I all my heart I remember every hug you gave me". She also said time to start our jewelry collection again. Okay I am officially in the sad mode. 24 hours of pity then time to move forward. Love ya to baby.

  5. Ugh, that's awful, I can't bear the insecurity that it must be causing you, let alone the sadness which will probably hit you more as the days go on. Take 48 hours of pity time, don't rush it.

    1. Today I spent the day with the alarm company, getting all my receipts and records together...too busy for pity. So, you are right, I'll wallow in it tomorrow :(

  6. WOW, so sorry to hear this! What f-ing punks! I would be so angry over the violation as well. A home is not just a structure but an emotional tie to yourself, and forceful entry is such an insult! So glad no one was home or that you didn't come home and surprise them mid-rob. Who knows how they could've reacted. Ugh, I am mad for you.

    1. They knew exactly what they were doing. I do have some peace knowing they weren't pill heads. It is difficult thinking about what could have happened especially knowing the time frame. Em just wanted to stay home today, bless her heart.

  7. Blue Booby I'm so very sad to hear this. I'll be saying a special protecting prayer for you today, to help you get over the feeling of someone being in your home. Light some candles and get someone in to give things a good scrub or do it yourself if you have the energy for it. Bless you and your family, big hugs my dear. xo

    1. BEing as anal as I am, I just wanted to pick everything up and put it back in its place but couldn't touch anything for almost three hours. The police were good but there is next to no chance of recovery of any of the items. I really do appreciate the thoughts and prayers.

  9. I'm just catching up here and I'm so sorry to hear this. I know exactly how you feel. I know you are mad, but at least no one was home, and nobody got hurt. I suggest you light some incense to cleanse the energy of your house. Again, I'm so sorry T.
