Dyeing over here

Yes, I actually got something accomplished recently.

After going to three different stores, workin' hard, I found RIT Dye.  But of course they were out of navy (damn it) so I did a quick pick between shit brown and dark green.

My blouse with the mystery stains.

For those that may do this, TIP...put gloves on before you open the packet.
I decided to do the stock pot method.

Hot water, dye, blouse, stir constantly for thirty minutes.

Ta Da

it came out a nice shade of dark green.  Dyed the blouse but not the thread.

Or the zipper.  Bit disappointed in that, but I'll never see it when I have it on.  I did remove the thread and tag by the zip.

Finished project.  Not sure what that is above my right boob but it came out perfectly.
And I was just going to throw it away.  Pat on the back for me.  Now I do not have to even wear a cami underneath.

And now since I am channelling Martha Stewart...

If your tulips are starting to wane, gently fold back the petals and you'll get a bit more time with them.  See below:

I am stuck inside this week end...it's suppose to rain anyways...because I just had my face burned this morning.  Something called Photodynamic Therapy.  It's to help get rid of AK's (Actinic Kerotosis).  I have also treated my hands and forearms with some kind of cream.  They look like they have been repeatedly dragged on asphalt.  I have been told my face will not be nearly as bad and healed in a week.  I sure hope so.  So, since my week end will suck, hope you have a great one!  Off to kill the pain with some wine.

Eleven

My sister is coming, my sister is coming...Yeah!
She and her husband will be visiting from Florida (they are bringing the snow with them) next week. They will be staying with the old folks so I will probably not get much "alone" time with her.  But it's still going to be great.

Tyler, Leesa, and Emily

The following week Mr. H and I are going to visit Emily...Yeah!  Then go to Charleston for a few days of retoxicating my body.

The lovely Miss Em

So I thought I'd put out my 11 random facts about moi before I got too busy.

1.  I used to have the ability to say any word backwards.  Have not done this for ages, not sure why I even used to do this.

2.  I worked in the drive through of the very first McDonald's in Destin, FL when I was in high school.  This was during the time of "Where's the Beef?"  from Wendy's Hamburger so that is what I heard over, and over, and over...

3.  I was baptized with Tyler when he was a babe and I was 28.

4.  I cuss like a sailor.  I guess I write like one too.  I really do try to tone it down.  Oh, and I guess I have now passed this trait down to my daughter.

5.  I have a dog, Minnie, who is scared of the camera, the stapler, and her own farts if they make any noise.

6.  I can only sleep laying down.  No fear of falling asleep at the wheel.

7.  I have been "flashed" by three separate strange men.  The first was repeatedly while a neighbor and I walked to school in the 8th grade.  Took them several months to catch him.  The second was at a grocery store parking lot while I was in college.  And, what hopefully will be the last, was many years ago after dropping my kids off at Mother's Day Out.  Driving down the road at 9:00 AM, stopped at a light, movement in the car next to me, Good God...phone to the cops..

Me:  Hi, I'm driving down the road and a guy in the next car is beating off.
Cop:  He's beating who?  Are they in danger?
Me:  No, he is masturbating.
Cop:  Oh.

8.  I really do not get embarrassed.  Between my dad and Hunter it is just better not to.

9.  I can not put new staples in a stapler without jamming them and breaking the stapler.  I just switch it out with Hunter's.  He miraculously fixes it and never says a thing.

10.  I hate Miami.  Lived there.  Hate it.  Hate it.  Hate it.

11.  I can only snap my fingers with my left hand.

Well, there you have it.  I could go on and on...

Poetry Fashion Cashmere Sweater

Poetry Crew Neck Cashmere Sweater Size M, Frosted Blue

On Model:

Poetry Spring Sweater
On Me:

Sorry, not the clearest of shots.

Close ups:

It is a very pretty sweater.  Light weight for our early spring but will probably work better
for our fall and winter.  I do feel the color is misrepresented on line and in catalogs.
I wanted it a tad brighter.

Sitting on top of heather and dove grey sweaters.

It took roughly two weeks from the time I placed my order until my mail lady threw it on the
ground next to my mailbox.  I hate my mail lady.  Strong words but geez.

I have worn twice.  It is soft and warm.  A bit swingy at the bottom but definitely not the
"is she, is she not pregnant" look that seems to be popular.  By feel it is definitely a
shorter cut cashmere and therefor should wear very well.

I like/not love and will most likely not purchase from Poetry again.
If I am ever in England and I see a store, I would wonder in for a peak.

And finally...

Abracadabra

I have an amazing magic trick that I seem to pull off very single time I go to Target.  No matter what I am looking for, how many items I purchase, if I even purchase what made me go in the first place, I CAN NOT get out of there without dropping $100.  Every damn time.  This is my haul from today:

I went for Rit Dye..remember that stuff, I can't find it anywhere.  I have a lovely blouse I have worn exactly once and that I have stained with I suspect red wine.  I even tried the dry cleaner when I had no luck.  She suggested I dye it.  I'm thinking maybe navy?  My next stop will be JoAnn's Fabric Store.  Anyway, I did get 2 packs of Probiotics which aren't cheap but work very well for me, gardening shears, a lighter, quart plastic bags, lotion, 5 sticky hooks, and a bird house.  Okay, one item I really didn't need.

Grand total.....$105.46.  It's Magic!!

I also went to Fresh Market for flowers...did not want green carnations from Food City.  I spied this interesting piece of fruit:

As the tangerine-tangelo season wanes, Sumo citrus will be in some area markets as late as May.

It's a Sumo Tangerine.

Hunter and I split it for lunch along with two mini chicken pot pies.  We are now on a serious diet because of our decadence.  Yep, no alcohol except weekends and we are measuring out and counting calories.  We started today.  This morning Hunter was in high whine mode about how he is always on a diet.  Of course I looked him up and down and replied "I don't think so".  At lunch he informed me his tape worm has kicked in and he was starving.  Sigh.

Do Like A Good Party!

I am sufficiently recovered from my weekend and looking forward to being a slug, once again.

L'Amour du Vin was a lot of fun.  I threw on the Spanx, dress, put the hair in a messy updo, added the earrings and heels and received a very pleasing "damn, you are a beautiful lady' from Mr. H.  He's a keeper.  Never gave a second thought to my attire, ready to have fun.

Sorry, that's all I got for pictures.  But I do have stories....

How it works:  First there is a silent auction.  Tons and tons of wine, some trips, some miscellaneous stuff, all donated.  There are four distributors present pouring various wines ( roughly 5 to 6 a piece) for you to sample...three to four sips.  Hors d'oeuvres are sent throughout also.  After the silent auction you move into the dining area for dinner, wine, and the live auction.  After it is all said and done you go to the front and pay for what you have won.

Scene 1:

Met a lovely couple, both professors at University of Tennessee.  During the silent auction they desperately wanted the two night stay at Blackberry Farm (it is wonderful) and hovered around the bid sheet.  They were so happy and went on and on about how they won and were going.  At the end of the night, he happened to be in front of me during check out.

Me:  How'd you do?
Mr. C.:  Welllll...  You know the Blackberry thing?
Me:  Oh no!  You didn't get it after all?
Mr. C.:   Wellll...we won the bid but...
Me:  Quizzical look
Mr. C.:  It wasn't Blackberry.  It was Buckberry.  I spent $1000 for two nights camping.
Me:  Oh shit, giggle, giggle.  Really?

Mrs. C shows up

Me:  Blackberry?
Mrs. C.:  No, I am going to friggin' Buckberry!

And that is why our education system is the mess it is.. Damn college professors can't even read.

Scene 2:

Met a man who was very liquored up even before dinner started.  He and his wife happened to be seated with us and two other couples.  His wife was equally toasted.  I did inquire their method of transportation...that's how wasted they were.  Fortunately, they arrived and would leave by cab.  Whew.  During dessert service she managed to miss her seat, fall, legs straight up in the air, gave Hunter a wonderful crotch shot.  They left shortly afterwards.

Bad Hair Day!

Trial Run...Dress Up!

L'Amour du Vin

L'Amour du Vin by htharri featuring Christian Dior

Wanted to make sure my Spanx still fit and the dress hadn't changed lengths on me again.

Will need to do more than clip my hair.  Shoulders back, stomach in, chins up!  I kind of look dainty and proper, don't I?

Ended up getting these because the others were on back order.  Love!  20% off.

Added this too:

Oops hard to see...it's a ring.

Look!  My girls wanted in the picture.  Ha.

Let's hope all goes well with the hair.  Why did Emily have to leave me...she's my updo girl.
