Style Me Please

It is getting that time of year.

I get to play dress up!  Yeah!

In roughly a month, it is time for the annual L'amour du Vin  at our museum.  This will be the third time we have attended so I am not yet ready to wear the same thing twice.

This is what I am thinking:

L'amour du Vin Dress
Cavatina Dress, Dark Grey, M

That's all I got.

I need shoes and a bag.  Because of the length of the dress, I need something with a 1-2 inch heel.  The bag needs to be big enough to carry lipstick, antacids and dental floss...shit, I may just let Hunter be the pack mule for once.

Any suggestions are always welcome.  I am thinking a bit strappy or even a mule.

Saw these:

But the reviews are not good and I would prefer not to spend quite so much.

Tried these:

KMA

The price was right but kinda cheap looking and not very comfortable.

Do I even want metallic?  Maybe black/dark grey?  Sigh.

I need to keep looking.

    1. Damn girl! It's fun to shop for others. I really like the Tory sandals...A LOT. The clutch is stunning but a bit out of my price range ... Maybe I can find something by her on ebay. So pretty.

    2. Holy! I wish I hadn't seen that clutch it's a beauty, great eye Wendy! But a bit pricey I agree. Hmmm this is a fun project I have to say.

    3. ha! Money is NO object for me as far as you are concerned, T!

as for the clutch, I am sure you can find a similar style at a MUCH lower price!

  2. Love that dress! You'll look great. I commonly use my packhorse as I hate keeping track of a bag in a dress esp at a cocktail party. Not the right person to ask about shoes but sparkly would be nice here. What a nice mood enhancer in this rather grim winter.

    1. This is such a fun event and we always meet wonderful people at our table. We always ask to be seated with people we do not know and we have a blast...helps that the wine flows freely.

  3. You're going to look great and serious LOL you crack me up, no shame in letting Hunter carry your stuff but a clutch is a fun thing to carry as long as it doesn't interrupt drink holding. Off to check Wendy's picks.

    1. Wendy can spend my money. Her picks are lovely. Just not sure of shoe color especially since my legs will be a nice shade of paste...the dress has a side slit on one side.

    2. You could go with a dark grey, metallic is so often paired with tanned skin in ads etc you might feel that your legs look white or pasty in comparison, I hear you as I am very fair as well. I find metallic shoes, especially in the silver family, make me think that I should have a tan, which I never do have... let's get Wendy looking for a grey shoe! ;)

    3. Now I am obsessed with the crystal clutch. They have on ebay...half priced... But in the beige. I would love the grey. Okay, focus on shoes.

    1. We have thawed only to be told we might get snow again Monday...that is after warming up to sixty this week end. Starting to get on my nerves. School was canceled here as well but I was able to get out Thursday afternoon. Went to see my folks today just to make sure my mom has killed my dad yet :). Have a great weekend.

  7. Oh Wendy di you proud with that pick, it works with the earrings and would be lovely against the backdrop of such a simple classy dress. JUST BUY it - we can paint your feet.

    1. She picked a beautiful clutch. I'll just bedazzle everyone with my other accessories they won't even notice the Crocs on my feet.

  8. Love that dress and the earings, really really cool, elegant modern and different. I do love the top silveries, but will defer to Dani BP, maybe dark grey. I am hopeless with accessories, always find its one of those things that you have to have dress on and try

    1. I suck at the accessories too. If dress was longer I had the perfect shoes...I've ordered a pair...we'll see if they work. Surprise! Surprise!

  9. Minority view, I'd love strappy sandals in lipstick red suede with the lovely soft gray dress.

And I'd decide on jewelry before choosing a clutch - I might even like something on a long braided silk cord to leave hands free for, holding glass etc.

    1. OOh I'm liking that braid cord purse idea

    2. If we weren't going into spring...hopeful here...I would try the red. Instead I'm going for pink. We'll see if they work. I too like your purse idea.

  10. I love the dress and color and your earrings but I would definitely pop a color on the shoe. I wouldn't necessarily try to match perse but alas that color is a hard one - green or blue or red. Although I like the snake skin ones and they will come in useful but not so keen on the other mules as i think they are a one hit wonder.

    1. But those in the know say mules are making a comeback. I didn't like them. I am looking for something I can get more than an occasional wear out of.
