Reviews: A J. Crew and Some Shoes (and love for Tiffany Rose)

Well, I have to do this post before I can show you what I got for my birthday.

First, I returned the Drapey Green Tunic and Calf Hair belt I had purchased earlier.  Reviews here.  The sales associate I have come to adore.  Her name is Summer (so cute).  I see her once every couple of months but like most people in Knoxville she is friendly and fun and knows everything about me.  She is good.  I perused the small shoe box store and decided to try the Drapey Tunic in a smaller size (did not have green so I went with - come on Cate what do you think - Navy).  It did fit better in the body but still was long in the arms and just too thick of material for my needs.  I got this instead...

Two Tone Zip Cardigan, size M, Navy (Quit it) here

Two-tone zip cardigan

On Me

It reminds me of a bomber jacket.

A bit blurry.  There are "drawstrings" if you want to cinch it.

Back view.

The grey "flannel" has a raw edge at the top all the way around.  May need some ironing after washing...not sure.

It is boxy and poofs a bit like the old Members Only jackets - dating myself.

I really like this.  I liked it on the hanger and see wearing this as a jacket more than a sweater.  I got rather warm rather quickly in my little closet.  The Merino wool is soft and I did not find it itchy or bothersome at all.

This next bit is dedicated to the lovely Tiffany Rose.

I posted a while ago about shoes I coveted, here.  She was very helpful in directing me to possible more economical and practical shoes.  I found several new webstores I had no idea existed.  Now my first purchase had nothing in common with the shoes I coveted but I saw them and thought they would be perfect for me.  I am wearing them above.

Closer look

DANIELE ANCARANI - Closed-toe slip-ons

These are from Yoox.com.  Daniele Ancarani Closed Toe Slip Ons in Lead here.

Let's discuss size.  I ordered a size 9 (Euro 39). Too small.  Returned and got size 10 (Euro 40).  Yoox offers free shipping TO you but will take off $6.95 on returns.  I am a size 9 and actually wear a size 40 Euro.  I knew that. I just missed the small print.  They did squeak a bit but a little hand lotion fixed that problem immediately.

Now there were a particular pair of shoes I wanted but they did not have my size.  Well, guess what?  Since I was now a 10 I could get them...

I got so hot in my cords and sweater...

Boy I have more veins in one foot.

I forgot to get a picture, but they have little heel grippers on the back.

The bottoms are smooth.

I got so hot in my fall clothes I stripped to take these last shots.  To show the bottoms I originally was holding them, took the shot, then noticed a reflection of me in my undergarments in the picture.  So instead of that...you get to see my tootsies.

Hmm...are they the same color?

Damn..are they the same color?

A very subtle difference.  I am keeping them both!  I am adding some padding in the toe area and now they are perfect.

High Five Tiffany Rose!

  1. YOu are killing me! I love it! They are the same colour, but I support you in your excesses so that someday you can return the favour (um, did someone mention multiple pairs of loafers, kikis and crazy expensive boots..)

I really like the sweater on you! You have turned me around completely!!!

  3. the two-tone zip cardigan looks very cute on you. I tried that on in store when I was visiting the city last week and fell in love. Would have to watch for an upcoming sale to grab it. Very cute shoes. I love the wedges especially.

    1. With my returns it was an even swap for the sweater. I am sure they will have a sweater sale and hopefully we can be twinkies.

  6. High five, BB!

The two-tone pumps were exactly what I picked for you but didn't think they had your size, I'm so VERY pleased you ended up with them and they work. Wouldn't I make a great personal shopper ;) and aren't Daniele Ancarani shoes wonderful? They look great on you and though the two pairs are the same or almost the same color, they are worn for different situations. So hey, I see why both are needed.

Agree with WMM, you're turning me around on that two-tone cardi/jacket.

Coincidentally, my next post is also on my yoox haul, at least some of them. Oh there is sure to be shoe lusting to come.

Thanks so much for the love! :)

  7. Navy woohoo! lol! When something works, it works. I confess I have the navy drapey crepe tunic and the navy sweater you are wearing in this post. I didn't like this sweater on first try but when I sized down it was cute. I do not plan to wear them together, but I guess I could. It's not cold enough yet to think about it. Beautiful shoes!

    1. See I am not the only lover of navy. It seems to be a big color this season i noticed. I would have gotten the tunic if they had the green in the store or even on line (it was sold out when I checked). I do love the sweater and the shoes.

  8. Haha! Loving your high five! These are gorgeous. I was looking at my fall clothes as assembled in my "regular" closet today: navy, green and gray. I guess I got your memo!
    Enjoy your weekend!
