Shoes I Covet

Well, trolling on the internet can lead to problems.  In my boredom I began looking for the ideal pair of navy pumps to replace these:

The dread J Crew Mona Patent Pumps, navy

Yes, they are beautiful.  Yes, they are perfect in just about every way.  Yes, I tried to work with them.

Side note:  I found a tip when working with patent leather shoes that hurt.  Rub lotion on the inside, heat with hair dryer and wear till you can not take it any more, repeat often.  Believe it or not it did help...just not quite enough.

So, look what I found...

Midheels

Rupert Sanderson Nada, 80mm heel here

Aren't they beautiful?  Yes, I know the are not navy.  Yes I know they have pointy toes. Yes, I know they are an arm and a leg but the price does include all duties and taxes.  Geez.  Cut me a little slack.

But, they would look great with all my dresses.

Green pumps

I told ya...I've been bored lately.
Sigh.

How tall is 80mm?  Bit over 3 inches.  Sigh.

What about these...

Green pumps

Ann Taylor Eryn Exotic Embossed Leather Pumps, Ivy League Green here

Only 2 1/2 inches

Or...

Ivanka Trump Natalie, Teal Suede here

Not really color I'm going for.

Or...

Ziptip

Stuart Weitzman Ziptip Pump, Green Suede here

They just look stumpy.

Nothing quite compares to the first pair.  I'm in love.

Help!

  1. I've been contemplating selling some of my "museum shoes" as I like to call them. They're really only good for decoration. Tragic. Those navy Mona's would def fall into that category! My back hurts just looking at them.

    1. Trust me you toes would too. I just can't yet let them go.

  2. Oh I am no help! Barry is putting me back on a clothing budget, since it turns out I almost completely ignored that there was a clothing budget...

I do love the first shoes, but can't do the heel, so I am safe... What a pretty colour - but not navy. I actually have a navy pump from 9 west I scored a couple of years back at a good heel height. It was like a miracle from god. But the heart wants what it wants, right?

  3. Not only do the last pair look stumpy...they have that dreaded matronly look to them. Horrors! The embossed Ann Taylor pair are nice looking. Navy shoes are tough. They never seem to match my navy garments. But I do love a great pair and always keep my eye out for them. Don't force it. The perfect ones will cross your path, they may just cost a bundle. And will be worth it.

    1. May have to haul my butt down to the B&M and try on those Ann Taylors.

  4. I have a couple pairs of Rupert Sanderson shoes that I got on deep discount last year, both with 3" heel. Excellent quality, similar to Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik. The ones you picked out look really beautiful!

    1. What?! They actually go on sale? Maybe I need to really try patience. Enable me Louise!

    2. Yes, they do go on sale, but you might have better luck if you find them at a store! The designer boutique at The Hudson's Bay Co. (Canada's national department store) carries Rupert Sanderson. I was lucky as I guess not many people here are familiar with the brand. I managed to get each pair for around $150 during the Boxing Day sale, less than a third of the original price. I know Net-a-Porter usually has good discounts at the end of season but sizes sell out fast.

  5. Seeing your post snapshot of the Mona mary janes, I zipped over to rescue you from those killer shoes of a different sort and was quite relieved to find you're already well aware of their evils. I may have some good suggestions but are you looking for navy or dark green? And what size?

    1. I am a size 9 and am looking for navy but am transfixed by the dark green. So...both maybe. I'm a woman, can't make up my mind.

    2. As your temporary personal shopper, here are my suggestions, not knowing how well yoox ships to you. I've ordered from them and am extremely pleased with what I've received from several orders. At this point, sizes/styles are limited since they just had some big sales. These may not be to your liking but here goes anyway:

      1. have not tried this brand but the price is good

      2. have not tried this brand and the price is good too on this

      3. the heel is a bit high but I can vouch for this brand for quality and comfort, especially if you need a wide toe box

      4. I love these Daniele Ancarani kitten heel mary janes in navy blue patent leather, think I'm going to get them for me, but the url does not point directly to the specific shoes so I'm going to have to figure some other way to tell you.

(I must be a little bored myself.)

    3. Wow...what a wonderful website and beautiful choices. I do believe I know what choice #4 is. Unfortunately, they do not have my size ( they are the suede two tone greens with kitten heel? I am going to look for them elsewhere...fingers crossed). I am going to try #1 and also a lovely pair of Daniele Wedges. You're wonderful!

    4. I saw the two tone greens but knew it wasn't in your size so actually #4 is from a different site, they are tiny kitten heel mary janes so perhaps not to your preference. Try going to shoescribe dot com (you can really get lost there if you love shoes) and do a search for Daniele Ancarani in the Sale section. I love that designer, the shoes are pointy but very roomy in the toes and almost always nice leather uppers, lining and soles. I'd take the smaller of your shoes sizes. Another I can vouch for is Boden, try these, maybe in the eucalyptus? I have other similar Boden shoes and just ordered the metallic. I think it's a great price if they are anything like what I already have from Boden.

    5. Hey, thanks for all your help. I actually got a pair of the Daniele Arcanani wedges. I know...no eye rolls please. The two tone I will keep looking back to see if they ever get my size. Maybe too late. I am afraid of patent because of the Mona's otherwise the Bodens are perfect. So thank you again. I now have three new websites to troll.

  6. Why, oh, why am I not a size 9 so I can have tortured feet when I swipe those shoes from you? :-)
I hear that this year, Camuto Group (as in Vince Camuto) has done all of Ann Taylor's shoes. They used to hurt my feet, but I may give them a try this year. I saw a couple of pairs of quilted shoes I just have to have. In the cheapie category, I've had luck with Nine West, s so comfortable always. But as my feet look towards leather lined shoes, I am slowly discovering nicer brands, and can report back with my findings, dear BB.

    1. Oh if only you were a nine. These are actually 9 1/2 because you should go up a half size. I am now obsessed with Tiffany Roses's #4...they would be perfect. I think I just need to be patient. Not like I'm going to wear them next week.

  7. 80mm is not that bad. My limit is 90mm unless they are so amazing I will torture my feet. And a better made shoe will be more comfortable. And even though, you and Tiffany Rose say no to the Mona, I can't help but pine for these in the Green.

    1. Oh, and I keep meaning to comment that we lived in Knoxville for 18 months. Loved it but we were homesick. I miss the weather. And I know of the JC you speak of too!

    2. The Mona's. It's the patent leather that gets me not the heel height. The green one's are great but the cost and shipping are a bit much to take a chance on. I need something in the USA.

  9. Those top ones are gorgeous - you have to have them! Forever shoes. Do you have all those frocks, what great classics. The only thing I would say about pumps that I've learned the hard way is for me they need a pad under the toe or they are incredibly painful. I have some pink ones Jimmy Choos which are only for short walks to the car sadly.

    1. Oh a woman after my heart. That's how I feel about the Monas...so beautiful, so painful. I need pumps but instead I bought wedges. I know you will not judge me :)
