In the Navy

In the Navy.  Where you can find pleasure, search the world for treasure...YMCA was not the only Village People song.  I have recently discovered I have a real thing for navy.  I always knew I liked navy but I do believe it may be a fetish.  Hmmm.

Now that's what I'm talking about.  Seriously, my fetish is actually with the color navy.  I recently went shopping in Charlotte.  This is what I bought:

J Crew Merino Tippi, Size M Navy

Merino Tippi sweater

and

They were a good deal so I bought a grey and a white one also, thinking outside the box.
Essential short-sleeve crew T

This is what I looked at, tried on, but DID NOT get:

I was trying to find my size so I could see about getting one on EBay.  I am a size 11.  The 10 looked good but puckered at the boobs.  The 12 was just a bit big and added weight on me.

This is what I ordered on line since I did such a shitty job shopping:

NEW Kenneth Cole Womens Sateen Trench Coat, XS - XL, $160 (Belted Long Jacket )

and

Printed eyelet top

I will post pictures and reviews of the trench and top when they get here. Didn't think you wanted to see the tee and the tippi...although I really like them.

Well, once I got home and after much ribbing from daughter about my navy purchases, I decided to make a polyvore page of all navy items I presently own that can be worn for fall/ winter...because I am so over summer clothes...and look at this:

Do I Like Navy?

Now be nice.  There are a few patterned pieces in there.  I have recently discovered The Vivienne Files and she talks about a core color.  I'm thinking navy, maybe?

Here is an actual picture of my navy items:

Geez!  And the dresses aren't in there.  Yep, there are the damn Mona Patent Pumps that I hate so much.  If you own them ya know what I'm talking about.  I would donate but am afraid to punish the next owner and they are just too damn pretty to throw away.  Sigh.  Mona's a bitch from hell.  Anyhoo, I need some navy pumps and the Stuart Weitzman's look nice.  I also need a navy belt, and maybe navy fingerless gloves, or a navy housecoat.  Okay, I'll stop with the belt.  Going to try it all on, make sure it fits, and go from there.  The next step, according to Vivienne, is a signature color.  Unfortunately I do not think white and/or grey counts.

  1. Oh you are killing me! I know exactly where to go when I get promoted again in a corporate setting! I like navy too! After my little love affair with brilliant colour, I want to be a little more judicious with it this winter, I think. I say that now, and then....I like your purchases. I love the Burberry!

As for uncomfortable shoes - you may find someone who actually does find them comfy!

    1. I'm afraid to throw a little red in there else I'll look like a Delta stewardess. I'm making a grey polyvore page and ya just have to laugh...didn't realize I was so drab. But that's what I like, am comfortable with, yada yada. I bought that neon yellow sweater at the beginning of spring and have worn it once. The blue one, many times.

  2. Blue Booby I love your navy closet! Haha the Mona pumps, that's so funny. They are pretty though. I have heard many a good thing about Stuart Weitzman shoes so yeah try those but maybe stop before the housecoat, good idea!

  3. Ah yes, I have the same feelings about my Mona pumps (non-Mary Jane). SO freakin' pretty, but they hurt like 7 hours after approximately 7 seconds in them. Love your navy collection. Now that I think about it, I don't really have a "me" color. I used to collect mustard-y pieces, but I've just gone so color-crazy that now those pieces are outnumbered.

Wait, do polka dots count as a color? Because that would be it. :)

I'm terrified to buy J Crew shoes as I have read so many negative reviews....

    1. I really had no idea I was into navy so much til I saw it all together. What's even worse is probably the number of white shirts I have. Oh well, I do love my j crew mcalister wedges. Otherwise, no more j crew shoes for me.

  7. Nothing wrong with navy! I've decided that charcoal gray and sometimes navy are better colors on me than black. Black is very harsh with my complexion. Gray and navy are just right. I ordered that eyelet top in the pewter color but I think it might be see-through. The navy one is printed so that was probably the way to go. See I should have stuck with navy.

    1. I can't do black very well either. For some reason, I favor the lighter grey over the charcoal though. Hoping the eyelet top works out. Didn't even think of sheerness.

  8. BB, always knew you were true blue. I consigned my one pair of barely worn Monas, life is too short for iffy shoes. (*Hangs head in shame for passing on pain.*) Wishing you luck on the EBay 11 search, that coat looks pretty sharp.

  9. Love navy too, so no criticism from me. :D

  10. I love navy, especially as I am getting older and black seems to age me. LOVE that coat. I'd love to see it on you!
Like Rose, I have no criticism, I think it looks lovely with your hair. And since my husband buys everything blue, and they say after a while couples dress alike, well, you can do the math.
I think you should donate those Monas. Never had a pair but I can volunteer if you twist my arm ;)

  11. I see Mona has you swooning. She's evil like that. They are 9 1/2...I wear a 9 and they said to go up a half size. You want them they are yours but don't say I didn't warn you :) otherwise they are set aside in the Goodwill box.

  12. I used to think navy was boring but have been under its spell over the past two years, my orders have been almost exclusively that color. I have the navy merino tippi and printed eyelet top on their way.

Mona is cruel and makes you suffer, she is evil but she looks hot. Miri is Mona's kinder gentler sister. I have some navy pumps from Brooks Brothers that are the same shape as Mona but 1000% more comfortable, they were even a fraction of the price on sale, now already gone, boo. Do not size up on BB if you try their shoes, BB. ;)
