New York, New York
Day 1
Like every well planned itinerary something always goes to hell. Fortunately not too bad. The weather in New York on Friday delayed our flight and really delayed Emily's flight. We were suppose to all land around 3:30PM but instead we finally got out of there around 6:00PM. Traffic! The good news is we really did miss all the predicted bad weather.
We stayed at the Hilton Fashion District. It was okay. Paid with points but will probably never stay there again. Hunter, being his normal friendly self, started gabbing with the check in lady (all i heard was "strip club") and next thing I knew we had free wi-fi and a bottle of red wine. She said she had a really bad day and Mr. H just made her day. We unpacked, tried not to step on each other in our itty bitty room (we had a view of a wall)...
and headed to dinner at Colicchio & Sons in the Chelsea area.

I had the Braised Artichokes and the Suckling Pig. Hunter forgot his reading glasses and I forgot to transfer his pair that I carry from my travel bag to my purse. Took awhile for our waitress to retrieve a magnifying glass (some one else was using). Service was very attentive. The food was fine. The artichokes were different...unique. Some one asked, I answered honestly and next thing I had two different managers trying to dig info out of me. Now the table next to us had mentioned they felt a bit rushed and they attacked them also. Did not like being put on the spot like that. Got the artichokes for free though. I liked them, I just thought they were different! When we declined dessert our waitress (who was great) asked if we had time because she loved the pastry chef and wanted us to sample a few things. Well, three full desserts later (and they were free) we rolled out of there. Would I recommend it? The Pig was really good, the desserts were really good. Bitch a bit if you want free food. I won't go back but you can always give it a shot.
Time to hit the hay because Saturday is Shopping Day!
I can't wait to hear about your shopping adventures:)
ReplyDeleteWe had fun.
Deleteha! we always stay up in Times Square - so thanks for a place to avoid!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to give Em a room to herself. Price wise it met the demands. The staff was great. The room was just really small and did not like location.
DeleteIf only you'd given Mr H another 5 minutes with the check-in lady, you'd have been swept up to the penthouse suite!
ReplyDeleteSulky I was thinking the same thing!
DeleteSounds like great times, I can't wait to hear more!
He can talk to a wall. It's amazing.
DeleteWelcome back! Glad to hear you had a good time! H is a total rock star.
ReplyDeleteThe wine was actually quite good too.
DeleteSounds like you and Mr. H are pros at getting comped! Good job. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually was a bit offended at dinner that they comped me. I swear I was not bitching. Still paid a fortune for what they did bill us so I didn't feel bad for long.
