Catch Up

Modern version of these guys...at least by sound.

Enjoy the music while we catch up a bit.

Quick update on my 101 List...What I did in January and what I'm fixin to do in February:

JANUARY

Get in Touch with an Old Friend - e-mailed my best friend from high school/college, she lives in Birmingham, and will hopefully get to see her in March.

Clean out my Garage - Of course I picked the coldest month to do this...Mr. H was not too pleased.  We all know when Mama wants to do something, Papa has to do it too.  BTW, I am now "Lover" to my hubs.

Watch Movies on a Rainy Day - I've done rather well with my movie picks.  Have seen Black Fish, Mine, Spectacular Now, Captain Phillips.

Fast for a Day - I got some stomach virus for four days...I'm counting it!!

Take Nana to Cherokee - Went up Monday afternoon, spent the night, came back Tuesday.  I think we were gone exactly 24 hours.  This was our Christmas gift to Hunter's mother.  All she had to bring was her gambling money.  My folks met us there also.  I played slots with my dad, my mother took this opportunity to get the hell away from my dad for alone time, and Hunter took his mom to the blackjack table...$15 a pop was all they could find, on a Monday!  Needless to say in two hours they were at the bar (like mother, like child).  Soooo, we showed her the penny slot machines, she had a ball, in bed by nine, and wants to do this again next year.

Wash My Windows - I personally did not wash them.  Are you kidding?!  But we had them out, 50% off, did a nice job.

FEBRUARY

Visit New Orleans - This should be fun.  We have been twice before and hopefully will not be too hung over for the flight home.

Have my Cartoon Portrait Done - Hoping to do this in New Orleans

Get my Palm Read - Ditto

Do a Shot - Ditto

Shopping:

Are these not perfect?

Jimmy Choo Inka
Sigh.  Fortunately they have those cankle straps so they are a no go.  Good thing since they cost a small fortune.

Life:

For those of you who think "Justified" is all pretend.  A short story about our concrete finishers...

Earl, Robert, and Jason (try to keep up).  Earl and Robert have been good friends all their life.  Earl has been a father figure to Jason.  Jason and Robert are cousins.  Earl is the boss, Robert and Jason work for Earl.  Okay...Robert is a fugitive from the law.  Nice guy but has a million warrants all having to do with drugs.  These warrants go back over ten years ago.  That's the background.  Ready?

Jason has a problem with drugs, he keeps missing work.  Earl is pissed.  Goes over one morning, wakes his ass up and proceeds to get in a fist fight with Jason who has a knife.  This is a 40+ year old taking on a mid 20 year old.  Needless to say Jason got whooped and didn't  go to work.  Three days later on our job site, the police and federal marshals show up and arrest Robert.  They got an anonymous tip.  Robert is now in jail and will likely never come out (do the crime, do the time).  Jason has not been seen since.  He is either in hiding or buried somewhere...no one will say.

Have a great week end!

Style Me Please

It is getting that time of year.

I get to play dress up!  Yeah!

In roughly a month, it is time for the annual L'amour du Vin  at our museum.  This will be the third time we have attended so I am not yet ready to wear the same thing twice.

This is what I am thinking:

L'amour du Vin Dress
Cavatina Dress, Dark Grey, M

That's all I got.

I need shoes and a bag.  Because of the length of the dress, I need something with a 1-2 inch heel.  The bag needs to be big enough to carry lipstick, antacids and dental floss...shit, I may just let Hunter be the pack mule for once.

Any suggestions are always welcome.  I am thinking a bit strappy or even a mule.

Saw these:

But the reviews are not good and I would prefer not to spend quite so much.

Tried these:

KMA

The price was right but kinda cheap looking and not very comfortable.

Do I even want metallic?  Maybe black/dark grey?  Sigh.

I need to keep looking.

Camel Hair

After my last blog, I did a bit of research about Camel hair used in clothing.  Here is what I found out...

Camel Hair

Like other luxury wools, camel hair is extremely soft, durable, lustrous, lightweight, and warm. Clothing manufacturers prefer the fabric in its natural state (a buttery, golden brown), but it is sometimes dyed navy, red, or dark brown. Since it is so highly prized and expensive to harvest, camel hair is usually blended with sheep's wool to make it more economical for the manufacturer to produce.
Camel hair comes from the Bactrian (two hump) camel, which is bred in the extremely cold climates of China and Mongolia. The hair is gathered when the camel molts instead of by shearing or clipping. The fibers are used in the making of suits, coats, blazers, jackets, skirts, hosiery, caps, and robes. Because of its warmth, camel hair is also widely used for sweaters, gloves, scarves, mufflers, overcoats, quilts, etc.
  • Luxurious fabric.
  • Extremely soft and fine.
  • Lustrous.
  • Durable and lightweight.

Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute

Background and History

The Cashmere & Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute (CCMI) is an international trade association representing the interests of producers and manufacturers of camel hair and cashmere fiber, yarn, fabric and garments throughout the world. Formed in 1984 as the Cashmere & Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute of America, the Institute changed is name in 1990 to better reflect the international character of its membership and activities. Today, the Institute is the leading authority on domestic and international issues concerning these luxury fibers and advises on labeling, international standards, supply and market trends.

Still my favorite

Beautiful

Back in 2011, even J Crew had one...at $325

From JCrew: “A wear-forever favorite (and a veritable work of art): This beautiful cable-knit sweater was hand knit for us in luxurious Italian merino and supersoft camel hair. The incredibly intricate design requires many hours to complete—but some things are worth it. Italian merino wool/camel hair/poly. Crewneck. Long sleeves. Hits at hip. Part of J.Crew Collection. Import. Dry clean. Catalog/jcrew.com only.”

Well I got schooled.

Do you have camel toe..I mean hair?

My Very First Tory

Oh joy, it is freakin' snowing...again.  So this is what winter is.  I'm over it.  I do not want to hear from anyone about my pussifititis when it comes to snow.  We are NOT suppose to get it more than twice a year and only 0.005 inches.  Just not prepared physically or mentally.

Usually my winter wardrobe is basically my fall wardrobe plus a jacket, maybe an occasional coat thrown on a dozen times.  Lots of long tees with warm cozy cardigans is really all I need.

Not this year!  I have worn my puff daddy coat...that only makes it on walks and in the past, football games.. more times this year than double I have worn in the past five years.  I used to love it but now I am sick of it.

Barbour

I have also ditched my Stuart Weitzman booties for these babies...

I have no shame when it comes to staying warm.

So Even though I am desperate for milder weather...or at least not the roller coaster we've
been on...I am once again looking at sweaters.  I have discovered, when it's cold I want
jeans/corduroys and just a pull on cashmere  sweater (some of you call it a jumper).
I have four J Crew cashmere vnecks.  Grey, navy, light blue, and white.
They are in constant rotation and I am sick on them too.

This looks perfect except it is wool, poly, alpaca, and camel.  CAMEL?!

Or this...

Cotton, poly, angora

This is ideal but they can't get it to me until March...

Well thank you Patpat.  Love her.  She suggested I look at Tory Burch and one item in particular.
Not being a Tory fan...sorry I just always think of this...

JUST CAN'T DO IT.

But look what Patpat picked out for me.

TB
On Me...

Well hello ladies!  Hunter loves this part.

The neck stays up

Side vents and Cricket makes an appearance for Emily.

Very pretty detailing

I now officially own my very first Tory Burch.

Which should be my next purchase?

Tory Burch 2014 Resort Collection

I'll stick with her solids.

Leave 'Em Alone

Another movie from my pre-kid years is being remade and about to come out.

Yes I am talking about…

The original was made in 1987 starring Peter Weller (he's now on Sons of Anarchy) and Nancy Allen (loved her with John Travolta in Blowout…not sure what she's up to these days).

One of my husbands favorites was …

Patrick Swayze (his brother was on Millionaire Matchmaker!!), Charlie Sheen (before he became a douche), C. Thomas Howell, Lea Thompson, Jennifer Grey, hell it even had Powers Boothe.

Why?!

Why mess with perfection?

I want to see them try to remake this one…
