Misery Loves Company

So…

I spent all day Saturday either in bed or in the bathroom.  You would have thought I was preparing for a colonoscopy.  Hell, I should have called my doctor and set one up…I was already "cleansed".  Felt a bit better Sunday but still spent most of my day in bed.  Today…well, I consider myself a functioning sick person.  Hopefully, Tuesday I will be back up to speed.

So…

This is my weekend in pictures (NO! I wouldn't show that!)

Yep, I binge watched a lot of trash, slept, drank lots and lots of Sprite, pooped a huncha bunch, and finally got some soup in me on Sunday.  I do hope your weekend was much more fun.

Clothes Review..a Bit of Everything

First, for those who were losing sleep over it, my neighbors finally got rid of the Christmas deer head.  With the warmer weather, it was looking more Halloweeny…the black crows were everywhere.

Next…

I have a few more things in my closet.  I did pull out some older things to make room.  Who knew I was a sock hoarder.  I live in the south, shit you're lucky I wear shoes.  However, I have a ton of socks and you would not believe the "hosiery" I have collected.

My First Net a Porter purchase:

Duffy

Bunch of money (but I had gift cards).

Athleta purchase:

I know, not quite the same impact.  This one was free with my coupons!

They arrived on the same day.

Guess which is which.

Should be easy now.

I have enough black tissue paper for years now.

Let's review sweater first.

There were tags everywhere.  A bit longer in front.  Very soft, light weight but warm.

Detail at shoulder and the length of arm at the bottom.  look harder you'll see what I'm trying to get at.  The arms are just the right width…not tight..for my Madonna biceps.

Detail trim at the front.

At the bottom.

And the neck.

Now the shirt..

Told you I had them.  My bicep seems to have fallen slightly to my tricep area.  Anyway, the sleeves are different but this is an exercise shirt.

The girls are quite demur.

I liked the tag.

Together

The shirt was on sale…but I got for free (of course I spent money to get the coupons, sigh).  Not even worth the sale price in my opinion.  I like it, but I could have gotten at Kmart for $10.  The sweater I really do like.  Just not sure if I am a waterfall sweater person.  I think the girls may be a bit big for this style.  Awful lot of money for something I am not totally in love with.  But…I now know a $300 sweater and it is remarkably better made, tailored, trimmings, etc.  It's hanging in my closet, just not sure if it's staying.

What's in a Name

I do believe it is time for a new moniker...something other than Mom.

Tyler is known in our family as Tyler, Tee, Tman, and Sha Tee Tee...we have been known to call him Tina when he is especially whiny and on the "rag".

Emily has been given a few pet names over the years.  She was affectionately known as devil child when she was a baby.  The girl cried and cried and cried most evenings.  Tyler called her Mee Mee until her could pronounce her name.  She was known as Radio (talked and talked) and String (never brushed her hair) by her two grandfathers.  Nothing really stuck except Emily, Em, and Hunter with Boobs.

Hunter is known as Hunter (it's a great name) and Mr. H.   I like to call hime honey, baby, hey you...  As some may know I do call people endearing names.  Sorry, if you don't like baby I'll wipe your ass and change your diaper :)

Me?    I am affectionately known as Mom.  Emily has even recently started Ma…not a fan.  My father called me Bug until I went off to college and then for some reason he stopped.  Never asked him too.

While the kids were home, Mom was fine.  I would, however, like my husband to call me something other than Mom.  My given name is fine…Teresa.  But, I really would prefer something a bit more intimate.

I am not sure what it is these days.  Never really had this issue before.  When it is time to shower, I sit under the water forever.  I do manage to wash my hair and face but some how I keep forgetting to SHAVE.  I go to comb my hair and I have small gerbils under my arms.  My leg hair has become so long it snags my pants when I move.  If I do not remember to do something about it soon, I do believe Hunter will affectionately call me…

Tale of Two Purses - J Crew vs. Banana Republic

I did not have much success with clothing this season.  In fact, most were returned and a few that were kept have remained in my closet unworn.  I did get one cute little purse from Banana Republic right before Vegas that worked out GREAT for holding a drink in one hand and playing slots with the other.  So, when I saw this little thing on final sale I said " Why not?!"

Quilted mini-purse

The BR purse was roughly $50 minus 30% off,  The J Crew was $138, now $100 minus 40% off.  So doing the math…  $35 versus $60.  And yes you can tell a difference.  BR is fake leather.  J Crew is buttery soft leather.  The BR is a deep hunter's green with slightly gold hardware.  J Crew is off white with silver hardware.  BR has a toggle closure.  J Crew has a magnetic closure.

Back view.  Both have a back pocket.

*Cricket is NOT amused*

Inside BR has one small pocket.

J Crew has a small pocket, a zippered pocket, and one more additional pocket.  Hmmm, what do they expect you to carry in such a small purse?

BR remains this width no matter what.  J Crew can be thin or it will expand.

Chain attached to outside.

Chain detail…this is definitely where you can tell cheap leather.

No padding or leather on chain.  Not uncomfortable.

How chain is attached to purse.

I am 5'6.  Neither chain is adjustable.  Prefer length of BR.

Trying to show color against a Gap white button down.

I do have problems with small purses because I always need to bring my sunglasses.  I have "special" eyes.  These are my essentials:

Sunglasses, phone, dental floss (this has become a relatively recent issue…receding gums?), pill box (antacids…not so recent), and lipstick.  Peanut is modeling it all for you since Cricket is now royally pissed, not to be seen again until tomorrow morning.

It all fits and stays shut.  The BR purse has long been sold out.  If J Crew had this in a dark green (not the bright green) at the sale price minus 40%, I would purchase and replace.  I think this will be fantastic in the spring/summer.   I am feeling subtle shades for the warm season…Radiant Orchid can kiss my hiney... and the off white will be perfect.

I want this…

Anthro Green Chambray
and this…

 and this…

Lilla P perfect tee
and these…

 and this is just perfect…

Luxe

Sigh.  Soon.  Very soon.

Happy New Year!  Yes, I am still recovering.  Had a blast and a new experience.  Usually when I am around drunks, they are either happy, mean, or passed out.  This celebration I was around one weepy, snotty, blubbering drunk also known as my brother in law.  Never experienced this before.  Was funny, then awkward, then funny, then sweet, then just plain annoying…really killed my buzz.  Ended with both boys going to bed and the chicks staying up and finally able to talk.
