J Crew Reviews - Back It All Goes!

I got this wonderful bench a month ago for Hunter.  He prefers to sit and put on his socks and shoes.  The previous bench was small, a one and a half cheek bench.  I can not find it on line.  It is from Target and was a grab-n-go, right off the shelf.

Guess who has claimed it all for themselves?!

Shift to the Left.

Shift to the Right.

This is how she sleeps most of the time.

Show off.

Yes she has moved slightly.

Okay, I want to be Cricket.

 Photobomb.

Speaking of bombing…I have not had much luck with J Crew this season.

I tried this:

Cable-knit scarf
Sheds like crazy.

and this:

Mirror metallic bar clutch

My lighting is bad.  The website does represent the colors.  The toothbrush is there size representation.  I did not even think of actually holding it.

No need for a wallet.

You can not carry anything in this ultra thin clutch.  That's a tube of lipstick.
I thought it was cute in the catalog. I thought it was VERY cheap IRL.

and I tried this:

Bridget Dress, Heather Flannel, size 10:

Bridget dress in super 120s

Look at those girls!  Look again!  One more time!
My camera's battery died so no more pictures than this.  But hey, what more do you need.  It did fit true to size but too low cut for my needs.

I did get Emily the Waffle Knit Infinity Scarf in Antique White.  She seemed grateful.  The color is no longer offered.

and sadly I also tried this:

On Model

Vintage cotton cap-sleeve tee in dot

On me:

Sigh, I now have my mother's entire body.  I have been trying these linen tees since they rolled them out in the spring.  Give me cotton, dammit!  And that is why J Crew and I need a break from each other.

  1. BB, you are a hoot and a half, and amen to your JC complaints. Short-sleeve linen tees in the dead of winter; sweaters that pill and itch, sizing that's crazy inconsistent, and don't even ask me how many JC sweaters and tees I own that have sprung tiny holes within a year of careful wear. Their stuff is unfailingly cute and increasingly not worth the money. And speaking as an ex-garment-trade person, lemme add that anytime you see alpaca or angora or similar animal fur fibers added to the wool blend, you're looking at the result of cheapening manufacturing standards. Happy rainy Tuesday from Atlanta, honey!

    1. I do believe it's gonna rain all week. J Crew was just a huge let down. That scarf had all kinds of different animal hair. What caused it to shed? It was perfect otherwise.

  2. BB, kitty saved the retail rejection post! It kills me that now I finally have a JC store in the same country, and even walking distance from me most days, I can no longer plump for most of the increasingly erratic IRL stuff. Hubs has dubbed same as certain people after drink - "good from far, far from good." But yay Em liked scarf, missed clicking on that colourway.

    1. I like that saying and really does pertain to a lot of the J Crew stuff. Not sure what's going on with them. Maybe it's just me....but I'm hearing it from others. Not an age thing either...Emily overall doesn't like their stuff.

  3. Hey GetFresh, love your Hubs' saying and am going to borrow that one. :-)

    1. She is quite taken with the bench. You would think it had catnip in it. Looking forward to seeing your take on J Crew.

  5. Well the JCrew stuff was terrible for the most part but I love that picture of you in the flannel shirt, you are looking awesome! Perfect with your blonde hair and that belt.
And as far as the merch, that "clutch handbag" is ridiculous, wth. Also the linen tee thing, I give up on all that stuff. You did your best my dear, it's not you it's them.

    1. I purposely picked something J Crew that I loved after my epic fail. When the clutch came I seriously doubted my taste level...not sure what I had in mind.

    2. I agree -- you look terrific in the plaid shirt!

  6. Another Hi from rainy Atlanta:)
I agree, the clutch is ridicioulus! Most of the stuff is not worth the money they charge for it,but i did find a few gems,so i am not divorcing the crew yet:)

    1. I'm not breaking up with J Crew just need a break. I am trying to be more selective but they never seem to have what I'm interested in at the store so I still on line it, get excited when opening the "present", and then it's a big let down. Weather is a bit crazy, eh?

  7. Ok I must be a weirdo, but I think the girls look terrific. On the other hand most JCrew I see is just crap now. Maybe it works for twenty year olds, but I'm way past that.

    1. They looked a little too good. Mr H would be pleased but I would be a bit self conscience.

  8. Oh, dear, oh, dear. The sweaters are a constant tribulation. And I had a dress fall apart on me a month ago. And beads and zippers everywhere! I'm just glad I can return instore. I persevere with JC because, sadly, so many other manufacturers/retailers are having the same issues. BR sells chemical products, Lauren Ralph Lauren is more than half synthetics and blends...

    1. The sweaters are just as fugly IRL as in the catalog. What are we missing? Or have they jumped the shark?

    2. wellfedfred, what do you mean about BR & chemical products? I ordered something from them (probably a sweater) last year and it smelled like chemicals. It was only available online so I returned it. Is that what you meant?

  9. I thought if I didn't look for a few months that I would be attracted again...kind of like absence makes the heart go fonder....but, nope...I'm staying away. Like WMM has just shown in her recent post so beautifully, the older stuff is worth hunting for. And not through rose-coloured glasses!

    1. Ebay does have its virtues but boy can it be addicting too. I will return in the spring with hopes high...J Crew better not disappoint, uh well maybe my hopes aren't that high.

  10. Dont know if cats get pampered because they are cute or because they have a great pr team and we just get lulled thinking it is only natural they get the best spots??

    1. Evil kitty just takes what she wants and we are all afraid of her.

  11. I've yet to see a cat pass up a comfy window seat.

Too bad about the J.Crew fails. I think the dress looks great on you but like most of their suiting dresses it is cut way too low. I have a few of them and wear a cami or scarf underneath and actually don't mind that because it provides a shot of color near my face but the fact that you *need* to add something to make it work isn't a feature.

That clutch is just ridiculously small. What were they thinking?

    1. The vent is below so the shot of warm air helps too. The dress was actually almost exactly what I wanted. Their vnecks are almost always too low cut for my tatas. Just don't want to show crack :)

  12. Folk without cleavage always want it, and us lot lumbered with it, are repulsed by bearing that crack! I'm over J Crew now, they are just like every other UK High St shop now.

    1. I know , it's like I'm mooning myself with my girls. I obviously need to give it a rest and quit trying so hard.
