It's That Time Again...

So what do you do with the ugly decoration?  You know, the one's some loved one took time and effort in making you and they look for it every time they come over.

See if you can find what I am talking about…

Any ideas?

Getting Hot!

There it is.  No, it really isn't THAT bad.  Oh, my sister has the twin.  My wonderful mother made us each one three or four Christmases (sp?) ago.  For those who may not be able to figure it out…it is a wreath with a red bow on top.  The quilting and hand work is very good.  I believe it needs a border.  I also believe my mom lovingly made these, sewed them up, took one look at them and said "Fuck it.  I'm not redoing it."  So…sis and I have discussed redoing them ourselves.  Would that offend Ma Ma?  Sis really doesn't care because she doesn't see Mom at Christmas..I do.  And so there it sits right next to the Christmas tree in a place of honor.

  1. Hmmm - I feel your pain. Some things get "misplaced" around here... At our wedding, Barry's mother gave us a painting of an inuit child crying, painted on wood, shellacked to a high shine. My oh My. Barry had to tell her we would never hang it and she cried and cried and cried....

    1. Wow. I can't even begin to compete with that. My pillow is looking better by the minute.

  2. I agree with Wendy. Be sure the box it's gets packed in is misplaced next year. And BTW...I recognize some of my decorations in your holiday decor:-)

    1. Brilliant minds think alike. Unfortunately in this case, I am highly organized and my mom would never fall for that. With all the "purity" hand made items I have given her as a child I suppose she owes me.

    1. If it just had a border it would be quite lovely. Without, i get "what the hell is that suppose to be?"

  4. I think that anything home made is pretty cool. My decs are all natural, holly and ivy from the garden, some ilex and the tree and some roses. Mumsie binned all of our decorations about 20 years ago, ago - not a sentimental bone in her body, we didn't even have a tree for about 6 years.

    1. Hat's off to you. I tried the "natural" decorations once, maybe twice. Too much work! Gorgeous but …just too lazy here. I want a tree like an umbrella. Just pop it open. Boom. Done.

  5. I am having one of those years - I just can't quite convince myself to decorate for Christmas. Your home looks beautiful. Perhaps if you added a border to the pillow, you could add on some some sort of personalized embroidery, like the year the pillow was given to you. That way you could be like, "Look Ma, I love that pillow sooooo much, I just wanted to make it even more special!!" Or, you know, just "accidentally" spill some red wine on it.

    1. I fought it a bit too. Happy it's up though. Very good suggestions with the pillow.
