Here Comes the Honeymoon

Mr. H and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary in a few short weeks.  Yay!

We were living in Miami, FL but actually married in Fort Walton Beach, FL (both went to high school and his folks were still living there).

At that time, there was no internet.  So Frommers guide books were required for proper planning.  Something quick to get to and relatively cheap for two twenty three year olds...yep, we were babies.  Hunter picked Palm Island St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

So in love.

It was perfect.

Packing for this trip was easy.  Two bikinis, two shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops.

Twenty five years later...Let the honeymoon begin again!

This time we are headed to ITALY.  Yay!

What the hell do I pack?

  1. Congratulations! You're going to love it! How long will you be there? When I went, I packed for May weather. I took one pair of pants, three tops to go with them, a skirt, and three tops to go with it and the pants. A jacket, a cardigan, comfortable sandals and a pair of comfortable shoes. (You will be walking on cobblestones). When I was in Florence I went to the Ferragamo store to basically see the Shoe Museum and while I was there I picked up a pair of awesome sandals in shades of green. Have a great time!!! Lots of fantastic food!

    1. 3 nights Venice, 4 nights Tuscany, 3 nights Florence. Will I need a coat? Just a jacket? Both Hunter and I are expecting to come home with new shoes!

  2. What a fabulous picture of the two of you. Congratulations, does it feel like yesterday that you met? Venice is the most wonderful city in Europe, it knocks the socks of Paris, you will adore it.
Definitely pack a sweater or two and a scarf, the wind can whip up really quickly around the lagoon.

    1. I didn't realize how red my hair looked...orange shirt will do that every time. Am getting very excited about our trip. Never been to Europe for that matter.

  3. This is so thrilling. I'd be so excited, is it the end of April you're going? I would say definitely bring sweaters. A blazer? Your favourite jeans? Yup shoes that can walk cobblestones and scarves. Happy Anniversary you two! xo

    1. Pretty much the last two weeks of April. So jeans are appropriate?

    2. I do not think you should wear jeans in the holy sites. I never do. They also prefer not a lot of skin. I am for a couple of dresses and sweaters, a couple of pair of neat cotton trousers, flats and walking shoes. I hope to be there or paris in September for our 30th! I personally think you should aim for a casual chic, tights and flats and skirts are better IMO for a trip where you will spend so much time in churches....

    3. Wendy, never been to Paris. Whichever you pick will be perfect for both you and Barry...so romantic. I shall not show a lot of skin, rarely do, and will bring dark and white jeans plus a skirt and dress that can be dressed up or down. Working hard on my packing list.

  4. Congratulations! This will be fabulous! Whenever I am asked what is my favorite place to travel I always answer Italy, specifically Florence and the Tuscan region. The food, the wine, the sights - oh my! Of course for packing it depends exactly when you are going since of course spring is a less reliable time of year for temperatures. For day I have done chinos or jeans. Since I wear blouses I always bring an assortment of cotton ones since the sleeves can easily be rolled up if it gets too hot. I also bring a blazer and some cotton cardigans since they are easy to take on and off during the day. Scarves and comfy shoes go without saying! But you are a packing pro so you will be fine. I guess if I was celebrating my 25th with my beloved, I would just pack whatever are his favorites. You are going to have such an unforgettable time together!

  5. What a perfect place to celebrate your 25th. Definitely a sweater to cover your shoulders when visiting churches. Recommend Sostanza for the best bistecca fiorentina in Florence.

    1. Hunter doesn't want to look like a typical tourist. Of course I'm pale with blonde hair, don't think I'll be mistaken for an Italian. It seems like forever since we've had a big adventure.
