Yay 2015!

It's finally here.

Christmas was meh.  Just not festive and fun like I remember/wanted it to be.  Of course trying to decorate a tree while everyone is whining, having to do all the shopping, wrap all the presents (my tape challenged daughter did help immensely with this one), see the extended family and all the "joy' they bring, prep and make a meal for ten people, and deal with a sick husband did not help matters.  We took it all down (except for the wreath in the half bath I discovered yesterday) two days later.  I'm thinking a cruise next year, maybe.

New Years Eve with Hunters brother and wife was fun.  The wife had also been sick and was on antibiotics.  After two glasses of wine, she was toast.  Last year it was the crying brother, this year the really drunk...but fun..sister-in-law.

Yay 2015!

I have been sick since January 1, 2015.  Sigh.

This is how I have felt all year, so far:

So.................

LET'S GO TO VEGAS!!

Las Vegas Weekend

Las Vegas Weekend by htharri

I'm taking Hunter and the old folks and we are headed to Sin City for a few days.

  2. Count me in on the condition. Next year a cruise, I say try it, we went away Christmas week and I think we will next year too.
Vegas will be just the ticket and the packing is looking good. Your blue Hermes accessories are killer.
Have fun Dollface and have some drinks for me. xox

    1. Just a bit afraid the cruise will be full of drunks...not sure why I imagine that. The Christmas travel just causes me to pause on the idea. I must do a shot, still not n my list, and not the pickle one Tabs suggested last year...I shall do one in your honor :). I'll let ya know.

  3. I have that same condition. Going to solve in in St Lucia this year where I turn into the lazy bitch who wants another rum drink stat.

  4. While I do believe the hot dry desert climate and easy sybaritism of Vegas are perfect for a post-holiday recuperation, I would imagine the presence of one's parents would have a moderating effect on the sin to be got up to in sin city. It would be uncomfortable to see their smiling faces over your morning oj when you are fresh from the debauchery of the night before, non?

    1. You haven't met my folks, have you? Ask my mom about Singapore Slings. When we went to New Orleans we beat them to bed every night.

  5. Oh dear, I think I may be one of the few that had a good one! But to be fair, we avoid most drama because our family is so small and we don't do too much with extended family. It's going to be -39 here tonight with windchill so I am ready for spring!

    1. We didn't have drama, just no real excitement for the season. Kind of a killjoy. Glad you had a lovely Christmas. Now stay warm!

  6. Enjoyed reading your post and the travel wardrobe looks perfect! Sounds as if you deserve a midwinter vacation! I know what you mean about the holiday season. We used to have ones like that too, but in recent years we've kept everything low key, just the hubs, me and our two kitties. Minimal gifting and not really over-eating either. To me, it's all about the lights! :-) I do think that next year we'll ramp things up a bit and invite some houseguests. This year we just wanted to get through the holidays because at the end of 2014 we lost our beloved niece unexpectedly and just didn't feel that jolly.

    1. I do think low key may be the answer...trying too hard I guess. I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your darling niece. How terribly sad for all that loved her and those that would have.

  7. I'm in your camp. Been sick since Boxing Day! Warm and tropical sounds like just the ticket for me. In fact a cruise sounds even better. Have fun in Vegas!

  8. I haven't been sick in years..other than a hangover but winter does usher in a general mood of what my Tarheel neighbors used to call: "a bad case of the drag ass" and too frequent visits from a rather harsh breed of the black dog.
I really could use a Singapore Sling New Orleans respite with your parents or long weekend of rolling the bones and bunny-hop ranching (charged to the Bill Clinton house account) in Vegas.

  9. I'm so sorry - Oh get better soon. I had that same illness for 15 years in London, the grey days wore me down.
re the wardrobe - whoo hoo and yeeeha, looks like you're well equipped for all events at Vegas. A subtle backdrop for those green long drinking things people hang around their neck. (I think they are purchased from Senor Frog?)

  10. I can't believe I was still standing at Christmas and New Year's the way I celebrated about getting well from surgery before Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to a good year. Hope you trip to Vegas is fruitful. I would shop til I dropped. Gambling seems to be a black hole for me, lately.

  11. With you all the way re: holidays. For me it's all been downhill since the kids Stopped Believing. I never topped the year my mom was inspired to stay up all night making new outfits for all the dolls - they were all arranged around the tree with the presents when Sis and I came downstairs in the morning. - well, I had fun trying.

The family is spread out, the older generation is no longer with us, and I think Vegas sounds like the perfect antidote. Luv ya!
