Hubs Warm Wardrobe

We have definitely decided to spend our 25th Anniversary ( next year) in Italy.  Hunter has also definitely decided he wants to dress the part and needs new clothes.  Must admit, I agree.

Not sure about your significant other, but I have a very limited window in which he is agreeable and not a whiny little three year old when trying on clothes.  Also, if something works, we buy it in all shades available.  So I shop on line, order, press, wait days for him to try on item, finally tell him he's not getting into bed until he tries on item, yay or nay, pack it up, ship it back, try again.

Since we are going to Italy, I have found out men do not wear shorts and men do not wear short sleeve button downs.  I have also found out not to many men at all wear short sleeve button downs.  According to Emily they just look funny.  What about Dad?  He's old.  Old guys wear short sleeve button downs.  Hunter's OK being old but I am going to try to ease him into a few long sleeve ones.

Saying:  Don't worry about old age.  It doesn't last long.

I do believe my work is done and this is now what his spring/summer wardrobe looks like:

  1. Barry lived in his chinos and linen shirts and a couple of lightweight sports coats - one linen, one chino that matched the pants (the really nice JCrew one). We did not see much in the way of ties the two times we have been in europe, even in churches, although one is always nice. If it is a hot time of year, I swear that linen and polo Ts are the thing.

    1. I figure if he needs a tie he can buy a fantastic tie there. He's just not a polo wearing kind of guy...likes those short sleeve button downs :)

  2. It sounds absolutely wonderful. Italy is my favorite European destination. When my husband gets dressed it is always with the mindset of what is the most casual clothing he can possibly get away with. He is a big fan of polo shirts and will wear woven cloth shirts only when required. He thinks that putting a blazer over the polo shirt is good enough for all but the most formal occasions. So good for Hunter becoming such a fashionista!
If you plan to be in Italy for your actual anniversary next year some of the country might be cool for shorts. I know it is further south but this past week was high of low 60's and night about 40 in Paris. So jackets and long pants were needed. Many of the women were wearing boots still! This time last year I was in Tuscany and it was cool there too. You have plenty time to plan and dream about this trip though. I know you are an efficient packer. I studied the Vivienne files you had suggested. It was really helpful but there is no way I will ever be that accomplished. I did get down to one ( large) garment bag and one carry on size suitcase. I need a lot of hair equipment. I probably wore close to 80% of what I packed. Major packing victory for me - personal best!

    1. Yeah you! Would love to hear all about Paris. I have never been but will go someday. I have been tracking the weather in Venice and Florence and at least this year it was almost identical to Knoxville. Hunter does clean up well and looks quite dashing in his new duds. Send me an email with pictures when/if you can. Paris just seems so romantic. I bet you two had a ball.

  3. So fab that you're off to Italia next year! It may not be very warm at this time of year... It can go either way in Spring. J and I lived in the South, but Spring was quite chilly even in the South.
I have a pathological hatred of short-sleeved shirts. No idea why.... J used to wear them, but I've more or less banned them and have thrown most of his out. He wears t shirts or long sleeved shirts with the sleeves rolled - far more attractive to me!

    1. Ha! Hunter says he's cooler(temp wise that is) with the six inches of less sleeve. Em was just so funny when she said he was old. At first he was offended. We did think of my dad and his dad as the only other people who wore short sleeve button downs. Tyler wouldn't be caught dead in them. I'm still trying to get him not to wear socks with his crocs.
