Eleven

My sister is coming, my sister is coming...Yeah!
She and her husband will be visiting from Florida (they are bringing the snow with them) next week. They will be staying with the old folks so I will probably not get much "alone" time with her.  But it's still going to be great.

Tyler, Leesa, and Emily

The following week Mr. H and I are going to visit Emily...Yeah!  Then go to Charleston for a few days of retoxicating my body.

The lovely Miss Em

So I thought I'd put out my 11 random facts about moi before I got too busy.

1.  I used to have the ability to say any word backwards.  Have not done this for ages, not sure why I even used to do this.

2.  I worked in the drive through of the very first McDonald's in Destin, FL when I was in high school.  This was during the time of "Where's the Beef?"  from Wendy's Hamburger so that is what I heard over, and over, and over...

3.  I was baptized with Tyler when he was a babe and I was 28.

4.  I cuss like a sailor.  I guess I write like one too.  I really do try to tone it down.  Oh, and I guess I have now passed this trait down to my daughter.

5.  I have a dog, Minnie, who is scared of the camera, the stapler, and her own farts if they make any noise.

6.  I can only sleep laying down.  No fear of falling asleep at the wheel.

7.  I have been "flashed" by three separate strange men.  The first was repeatedly while a neighbor and I walked to school in the 8th grade.  Took them several months to catch him.  The second was at a grocery store parking lot while I was in college.  And, what hopefully will be the last, was many years ago after dropping my kids off at Mother's Day Out.  Driving down the road at 9:00 AM, stopped at a light, movement in the car next to me, Good God...phone to the cops..

Me:  Hi, I'm driving down the road and a guy in the next car is beating off.
Cop:  He's beating who?  Are they in danger?
Me:  No, he is masturbating.
Cop:  Oh.

8.  I really do not get embarrassed.  Between my dad and Hunter it is just better not to.

9.  I can not put new staples in a stapler without jamming them and breaking the stapler.  I just switch it out with Hunter's.  He miraculously fixes it and never says a thing.

10.  I hate Miami.  Lived there.  Hate it.  Hate it.  Hate it.

11.  I can only snap my fingers with my left hand.

Well, there you have it.  I could go on and on...

    1. Charleston is Hunters favorite US city and he has not been in years. I went with Em when we were looking at colleges. Much love.

    1. I must have "show me your d@&k " written across my forehead. We shall have a ball picking on my parents :)

  3. I've only been flashed once, on University Avenue in Toronto when I was 18 and walking home at night from work. Still I've never forgotten... 3 times? You've had more than your share. I also can't fill a stapler and have injured myself badly trying to do so.
Charleston! A good friend of mine who lives down the street has a beautiful house there, she goes in October and comes home in May, she's no dummy. Have fun Dollface! Your children are gorgeous and so is your sister.

    1. It will be a fun couple of weeks full of family. Good to know I am not alone with my stapler impairment or my pervert attraction.

  4. No flashers, no cussing and I easily embarrassed. I am with you on only able to sleep when laying down. My husband and I talked about going to Charleston this winter but never hot there. I've heard only good things. Your sister and then Emily - how great is that? We will take a trip to Europe next month. I wish I had your packing skills!

    1. I knew we were so much alike :) Charleston is definitely a wonderful city. When you have nothing better to do try the blog The Vivienne Files. She does wonderful color stories, packing, etc.

  5. Hilarious! I love it! I waver about Miami - hate it and then love it. Odd city though. Also their housewives are the least interesting out of the whole franchise so that says something no?

So lucky you have a sister - always wanted one. Also how jealous am I that you are going to one of the other places I adore in the wordl. I ate shrimp and grits till it was coming out of my ears in Charleston. It is the best of the south and England. I could easily live there along with New Orleans.

    1. Hubby loves Charleston, and I do too, but he could go there for every vacation. Lived in Miami for a couple of years and literally had bets about how many murders, road rage incidents, child drownings in pools, pit bull attacks, and alligator attacks were going to be on the news in the evening. Went back last year...still awful. The weather and food are pretty grey though.

  6. So funny! Interesting about Miami-- I've only been there once and did not feel attracted by it at all, can't say why. You probably have a lot of whys!

    1. Nothing like being afraid just about any time you drove. Never considered myself prejudice until I lived there...then I just hated everyone.

  7. Thanks so much for the Vivienne Files suggestion. This is just what I need. I am always so disorganized about packing! I can at least try to duplicate ideas and shop my closet. Her current post is about spring in Paris which will be one of my stops. Thanks again and have a great day.

  9. I'm a cusser too: I'd shock the navy. Minnie sounds fantastic.

Miami is weird. Travelled to south beach shortly after giving birth to second child. Was the only woman in the pool without major plastic surgery. Depressed me for life. Mind you, the men looked fantastic too.

Enjoy your visit with your sister!

    1. Minnie is fantastic. She is my companion and is not happy when I leave her. Miami, sigh, lots of memories and hardly any of them are good...when people tell me they love Miami I try to bite my tongue but just can't.

  10. I have a real princess and the pea sleeping situation. Like you, I'll never fall asleep at the wheel. I once stapled right through my thumb trying to load a stapler, which hurts a lot less than it sounds, and Ive never really done much of it since.
I hope you have a wonderful time with your family and visiting Charleston.

    1. Sorry, a staple in the thumb sounds like it hurts. Now I do get paper cuts when I lick an envelope...that hurts like a mother.

  11. I love your list! Except the flashing part. I was coming back from a wake on the no. 7 train, this is a very respectable train for you non-NYers, the lights went dark and when they came back on, the only other person on the train was a guy who was holding a candle. Except he wasn't.

    1. I also have gross subway stories as I am sure NYC people do. But being alone with that guy would have freaked me out for sure. Did you hop off, was going to say get off but thought better of it, at the next stop?

    2. Love the way you tell a story.

  12. What a beautiful family you have - including the beautiful Miss Em - that is quite the coat! (as Tallulah would say, what country is that coat from?) I am a huge swearer and would LOve love to do more on my blog, not sure why I don't. I had a dreadful flasher at my shared house in varsity. I was more angry than scared and ran after him with a brick. The police told me the flashers won't come after you, but there is no room for error on that one

    1. The coat was from a dog sledding camp in Alaska. When I tell about the last pervert I have gotten (from a few men) "well, maybe he was just relieving stress" Who does that at 9:00AM in a car, driving, on the main road in Knoxville?! Who even considers that? What kind of friends do I have?!
