Have I Found It Yet?

Have I finally found it?

The Perfect Housecoat...

The reviews are not promising:

"I looked like a deranged Easter Bunny"

Okay, maybe not.

*****

How about...

  • National Seersucker House Coat, Blue, Small

    Twenty Bucks!  AND great reviews.

"It is cute, but in a days gone by way"

"My mom (91) likes cool and crisp"

    Okay, maybe not.

    *****

    Then there is this...

I know.  It's just a robe.  But a beautiful, soft robe.  If they could just put a zipper down the front I'd be all over this no matter the cost.

    So, no luck.

This winter I shall be in this:

  1. Do you know I had s housecoat I got in one of those crazy sales in the states and it was sooo warm but my husband just couldn't get used to it not that I care and I only gave it up when the zipper broke!

    1. See, I'm not the only way one. I just want something comfy, I can wear sans bra (that's probably the hardest part, and warm.

  2. Um, hasn't Fred already forbade you from acquiring housecoats?? Do you have proper silk long johns? I just replaced my historic ones with new pink pointelle 3/4 sleeve top and long bottoms form the LLBean's. Just put these on under anything and you will feel just as warm as your last photo AND you will be able to move your limbs!

    1. I want one item, a housecoat, to wear. Nothing to do put under or over. Just one perfect zippered cashmere (or faux Sherpa) piece of clothing. Long johns won't do...have those. Onesie maybe, but too hard to pee. If I can find THE perfect house coat I know Fred will want one too.

  3. Oh my that's what I looked like last winter (last picture: grey sweater pants outfit). I threw all of that stuff away so I'm going to copy Lane and get that silk long underwear in the PINK. Ooooh good idea Lane.
You know what I kind of do have a housecoat, a leopard print cashmere from Bedhead, it's just a robe really, but a bit Mrs. Roper therefore wading into housecoat territory...
I also sometimes wear a navy flannel robe I bought for hubs from JCrew that he never wears, it's a size XL so huge on me but really cozy and I just wrap the belt around a couple of times. Maybe try buying one for Hunter but really for you.
Though I bet if you were channeling a deranged bunny it would be so funny!

    1. I want a zipper. The sash always comes undone. I'll check out bed head. I did see something promising in the Neiman Marcus catalog but now I can't find it. It was a cashmere caftan...ooooh.

    1. Now that's the Christmas Story there. Had to laugh at the reviews I read. The first looked so promising but the people hated it.

  5. A zipper? You are channeling your inner 1970s mother! No silk underwear for me. I need support. I have a lovely soft robe that seems to stay closed, but then I don't live with that rascal, Hunter!

  6. I do love a zippered front closing. Why don't they make more stylish ones?? I'm now thinking a fleece kimono would work. Of course I'll probably have to sew it myself.

  7. I live in a cashmere bathrobe. I shall be buried in it.

  8. Have you seen the Orvis denim robe/housecoat with snaps down the front? So classy I sometimes wear it as a duster over black pants.

  11. The top one looks a bit bloppy, the second a bit Mrs Roperish? and not warm enough. Most of these would look I need to wear a bra (but that's a story for another day.)
Hope you are well my friend.
I used to have a padded one from Laura Ashley that zipped and was superb. Amazingly I took it to university and one of the girls had it copied by her dressmaker (oh lalal)
