Finished Dining Room...Kinda

Voila'

I need something over the side board.  I shall place a picture for now.

I would LOVE something like this:

size reference

I went with the fabric covered chairs.  They are lovely.  Somehow along the way, I forgot I had Evil Kitty.  She has taken a liking to them, especially the backs with her nails.  I bought six of the damn things.  Sigh.

The table is Simply Amish and took almost three months to get in.  Boy is it beautiful.
It is 48" X 72".  I can sit eight without any leaves if need be.

The leaves are stored at the ends...breadboard type.  Pull out, swivel, flip, ta-da.

I have moved the plant because my Christmas Tree will be going up in a few days.  The palm would never live in the dining room long term.

Once the plant is gone, I do believe I will need drapes/curtains.  Suggestions are appreciated.

Maybe these:

Bird Scroll Curtains

Well, I am done for now.

I need a bit better back lighting.  But you get the picture.

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. T, love that table and how that glass piece you got in Chicago looks with back lighting. Speaking of lighting, you are very much in Den compliance with that dim lighting.
What if the 'fat pants' are already feeling snug going into the hols?

    1. Those would be "shrunk in the wash" pants. You must get a new pair of fat pants immediately.

  2. Your dining room is gorgeous. Love that light, is it Currey and Company? That table! Very cool the way the leaves work and the wood: beautiful.

    1. The light is from Crystorama. I loved a version of the light but not the price tag. This was more doable. The leaves are a wonderful feature. No more pulling, lugging, storing in the closet.

  3. Ahhh! The comment vortex. Had a smart question about the art glass (?) in the corner but alas is down the rabbit hole. Looks fab!!

    1. It is by Davide Salvadore. A wonderful Italian artist.

  4. Love the table-- is it made of old wood? I don't know about curtains; you have such a nice view. Something dead simple if anything. Won't your cat attack your glass? Give D Chihuly a buzz and see what he can run up for you! A big painting there would be awesome, though, by some local artist? You did a great job!

    1. Cricket can not jump, she can only scale. Quite funny to watch except when it's my chairs. It's like climbing a mountain for her to get in bed. I am having a painting reframed as we speak.

  5. Just gorgeous. The table is perfection and I love the simple and stunning wainscoting. It makes the room so special.

    1. Hunter did the wainscoting for me fourteen years ago when we built the house. Still cusses me about it.

    2. Job well done, Hunter. Your table has inspired me to really look into this brand - I even found it this afternoon at a local retailer. I can't wait to see their floor models in person. I have my grandmother's antique dining room set and I'm beyond ready to sell it and get something that I like. Her set is gorgeous, but not my taste and I've used it for years so it will be a guilt-free sale to someone who will enjoy it. If only I had a buyer....

    3. My room is only 11' x 13'. I needed something I could sit eight without the leaf, that is what I usually have, and ten at Christmas. We will only use one leaf because of the constraints on the room but it will sit twelve. I love there is no center seam and the leaves are stored within the table. These are made to order and that is why it takes a bit longer to receive. Well worth the wait though.

  6. Madly in love with the table too, it's utterly beautiful, it's great seeing snippets of folk's houses, you're taste is much more art lead and modern than I would have imagined.

    1. We did the shabby country when first married..all we could afford. Hunter is the art glass collector and I am the borderline ocd, anal, hate clutter one. My next project shall be our bath but that will require demolition.

  8. Love the room lighting furniture and art! I almost say who needs curtains if you've got a garden to look at. My neighbours opposite don't use them. Took awhile to get used to but if I didn't need to I don't know if I would. But nice choice nevertheless

    1. I would prefer not to have them but without the plant it looks rather stark. I shall tape cloth to the wall and see what I think before tacking up a rod.

  12. I love the way you have combined the simplicity of the table with such fabulous glass sculptures. The results are smashing! In my home most windows are bare since I like the architectural element of the windows and moldings and don't like to interrupt my views. But the drapes you have pictured look like they will complement the room nicely. Enjoy the new room with your family today. Happy Thanksgiving.
