Intervention, Please

Why am I addicted to this stuff?!

The William Sonoma Peppermint Bark only comes out at Christmas and is expensive.  I always think this will help limit my intake.  I am on my fifth, yes 5, box and am hoping someone gives me another for Christmas.  I can still fit in my pants but sitting for too long is starting to be uncomfortable.  Now I have tried other, lesser, brands but nope won't do.  I have considered trying to make it myself but am afraid, really afraid of being successful.  I would then need to "size up" every year.  Well, of course now that I have the image in front of me, let me go get a piece!

My other weaknesses:

So what can you shove in your mouth and eat ALL in one setting.
What do you crave and hate having to share with anyone?

  1. Potato chips with dip! The only sweet thing I like is shortbread. But I didn't mind those tamales and reeses but not enough to start plotting!

    2. Not sure if I have ever had shortbread. I do love me some chips and guacamole.

  2. Usually i dont care for peppermint, but the bark from Williams-Sonoma is delicious,

    1. Never had marzipan. Em says no matter how you want to justify it, "healthy" chocolate is still dessert. I tend not to agree with her.

  3. The list is too long. Coulda woulda shoulda has got me craving chips and french onion dip now. Ironically there is one kind of Weight Watchers candy I could down bag after miniscule-sized bag of. My most recent sin is the Nestle slice and bake cookies, made for others and eaten by me. I haven't tried the peppermint bark but I was eyeing it in the store the other day. Better not start, I guess?

    1. Step away from the bark :). Tough to turn away from cookies.

    Shortbread
    Popcorn
    Red wine

    Sigh...

    1. Well wine was a given. Maybe I need to try this shortbread thing. At least popcorn you are eating for hours, sometimes days depending on how bad it gets stuck in your teeth.

    2. Shortbread is really plain and almost bland but tastes buttery, it's what we always had out for Hogmanay ( New Year's Eve)

  5. Try Walmart on a Friday night here...it's where everyone goes to see and be seen. Quite scary trying to tell the men from the women. I hate to share the above because I always think "less for me."

  6. That's it I have to get my paws on this Peppermint Bark stuff! Is it gluten free? When I think of Christmas chocolate I think of Toffifay. I love Toffifay candy, I love it! And I haven't had any for a couple of years. That's it I'm getting some for myself. Hope they're not cursed with gluten.
Potato chips are my downfall. Most especially Miss Vickies Jalapeno. SOOO delicious with a glass of sauv blanc. If they're around I'm done, I'll eat them all.

    1. Not sure if gluten free but you'll eat so much you'll be bloated anyway. Not heard of these chips. I can not eat the bark with wine...ruins the flavor of the wine.

  7. That peppermint bark is good stuff! I myself can go through one of those giant Costco-sized canisters of Jelly Belly jellybeans in an embarrassingly short period of time.

    1. Oh I can eat the jelly beans. I can even gag down the popcorn flavor ones.

  8. I have a huge problem with baked goods, specifically homemade cakes and cookies. If it exists in my home, I can not keep myself away. I always tell myself that I will only take a sliver but eventually I sliver myself around the whole thing. So I either don't bake or throw the rest out after everyone has had some. My family is asking when we are going to bake Christmas cookies and I hate to be a humbug but I know I'll be in it for at least five lbs. I don't know of a cure for a sweet tooth so no help from me!

    1. We only bake when the kids are home. Emily is my baker. I just have no will power with the above. The Hot Tamales are especially dangerous cuz I eat the whole box and then wonder why I don't feel quite right.

    2. I will have to give in and break out the cookie press over the weekend. My daughters and I must at least bake my grandmother's butter cookies for my dad. The trick will be not to quadruple the recipe and send most of them home with him. But of course then there will be pecan balls, lemon bars, .......! Oh my!

    3. Teacups, oh I am terrible for "slivering" my way around baked goods too!

  9. Is there a gun aisle at Walmart? That's fabulous!

  10. OMG I want to go there! A gun aisle! Utter madness!

  11. No peppermint bark here, nor any of the other things....
Christmas for me is all about my mother's chocolate chip cake and shortbread. Sadly not much for me this year, though, due to the gut issues with wheat.
I'll be hogging the following instead:
    French rosé
    Cherries
    Smoked salmon in huge amounts

    1. It's amazing what I'll eat even though I know it's no good for me. Cherries would be heaven but sadly out of season here.

  12. I love that bark; have yet to receive any this year. I don't binge on anything though; very disciplined about that. I just don;t feel well if I eat too much ( or drink too much-- would make a poor alcoholic). Love good ice cream, but not this time of year.

    1. For some reason I do not want ice cream when it is cold outside either. Just no desire for it. Fortunately I only get the above items sporadically but when I do don't expect me to share.

  13. I love candy! There I've said it for the world to hear. I love that WS bark but I really love peanut butter fudge, cream candy, divinity and those peanut butter pinwheels with the white around a pb center. If people don't quit bringing goodies to work, I am going to put someone's eye out when my buttons pop and fly across the room.

    1. Laughing..me too! I have not had divinity since I was a girl. My mom would make every year at Christmas.
