F is for ...

FLORENCE

How'd you know?!

We ended our second honeymoon in Florence.

We went to the Duomo

Inside and out

Proof we were REALLY there.

We saw THIS guy:

Pretty damn magnificent.

You have to see the back side.

Went to the Pitti Palace to see how the rich people lived.

Saw lots, and lots, and lots of people

Too much
Saw and briefly spoke with THIS guy:

Ron Howard 2011 Shankbone 3.JPG
Looks just like himself :)

We are home and the honeymoon is over.  Loved it.  Hunter came back with a blue suede jacket and navy loafers.  Big Sexy wants to be a peacock.  I got wine, wine, and more wine.  I did get a beautiful clutch/wallet and a glass bead necklace and a scarf.  Did most of our shopping in Florence.

Back in East Tennessee and back to work.  Tyler is home for his last summer.  He is officially a Senior in college (egads).  Emily will be home next Tuesday for two months before she studies abroad in.......

AUSTRALIA!

Lucky bitch.  Wish I had parents like hers.

    1. Florence is beautiful. We just needed to get rid of 3/4 of the people.

Florence is a bit busy but you can see why. Did you like the food? How did you choose the wine? So many questions he he x

    1. Emily will be going to the University of the Sunshine Coast. She will take a full semester, starting mid July to mid November. I LOVED the food, the wine, the people. We did three wine tours and purchased something from each. Shipping is a bit costly but the wine prices were very affordable. The only issue is some need to be "saved" for a year or two. Who does that? I guess I'll need to practice some patience.

    1. I saw Ron at breakfast our first morning and told Hunter that guy probably gets "you look like Ron Howard" all the time. The next day we went shopping and one of the store clerks asked where we were staying. She then mentioned the crew for "Inferno" was staying there also. So it was Ron!

  4. I treasure every moment I've spent in Florence. Except for all the times we got stuck on one-way streets going against us, that is. And the afternoon following lunch at Enoteca Pinchiorri is kind of a blur...

Oh, lucky Em, she sure picked her parents well!

    1. Venice had all the people but no cars, buses, scooters, bicycles. Florence, with there two foot wide sidewalks, was a bit intimidating with all the traffic too.

  5. Beautiful! I adore Florence. Less showy than some of her European cousins. Glad you had a terrific adventure.

  6. Florence is so compact the presence of crowds is magnified. Florence is at its best in the fall. Yes, if there is one artwork to see, it is the David. Is Ron there because they're filming Inferno? Did you get to eat any bloody bisteccas?

    1. We were in Florence on a week end...on the Italians liberation from the Nazis holiday. It was crazy crowded. The first day of shooting Inferno was to be the day we left and it was going to rain all day.
We did have the bistecca alla Fiorentina one evening. Great cut of meat.

  8. What a great trip you had! Isn't it a wonderful place? We love the sculpture museum, Bargello, Palazzo Strozzi, so many other spots. The wine may or may not make it through the rest period , can;t blame you.

Lucky Em! Geez, where did we go during college? My kids went to Copenhagen, Tanzania, New Zealand. I went...no where.

  9. I wish I did too! (parents like you)
Welcome back traveller, how totally awesome. As I'm sitting in grey and dreary California which finally got chilly winter I am so jealous of your jaunt.
Can't wait to see both your purchases on. You bought back wine? weren't you afraid of it smashing in your bag?
