What's in a Name

I do believe it is time for a new moniker...something other than Mom.

Tyler is known in our family as Tyler, Tee, Tman, and Sha Tee Tee...we have been known to call him Tina when he is especially whiny and on the "rag".

Emily has been given a few pet names over the years.  She was affectionately known as devil child when she was a baby.  The girl cried and cried and cried most evenings.  Tyler called her Mee Mee until her could pronounce her name.  She was known as Radio (talked and talked) and String (never brushed her hair) by her two grandfathers.  Nothing really stuck except Emily, Em, and Hunter with Boobs.

Hunter is known as Hunter (it's a great name) and Mr. H.   I like to call hime honey, baby, hey you...  As some may know I do call people endearing names.  Sorry, if you don't like baby I'll wipe your ass and change your diaper :)

Me?    I am affectionately known as Mom.  Emily has even recently started Ma…not a fan.  My father called me Bug until I went off to college and then for some reason he stopped.  Never asked him too.

While the kids were home, Mom was fine.  I would, however, like my husband to call me something other than Mom.  My given name is fine…Teresa.  But, I really would prefer something a bit more intimate.

I am not sure what it is these days.  Never really had this issue before.  When it is time to shower, I sit under the water forever.  I do manage to wash my hair and face but some how I keep forgetting to SHAVE.  I go to comb my hair and I have small gerbils under my arms.  My leg hair has become so long it snags my pants when I move.  If I do not remember to do something about it soon, I do believe Hunter will affectionately call me…

  1. Well this is weird! My daughter calls our son, whose name is Forrest, Tina... and the kids sometimes call me The Bug - but that is a long story best shared over wine!

I think the hair thing is aging m'dear - it just crops up everywhere and grows at a frightening pace, though I notice not in my eyebrows, so I am being extra careful there!

    how about Ducky?

    1. I think the forgetfulness is aging. The long hot showers is because of cold weather. Ducky? Maybe I'll get lucky.

  2. I propose your given name to Ruth, MILF! Too crass? But it's true, deal with it ;)

    1. Aw, no fun. I told him no more "Mom" should be interesting what he comes up with. I also reminded him nothing disparaging either.

  6. You crack me up lady. Have not heard "on the rag" in decades - how retro of you darlink! just the best expression ever isn't it? I can never be arsed shaving my legs, hence trousers and seldom wear dresses. I am called *grunt* in my house, the name has gone by the wayside

    1. We used to say "Kathy's here" for Kathy Kotex...not sure how that came about. I am determined to shave this morning. Wish me luck!

    2. Funny, my sisters and I always used "Betty". No idea why. I guess my husband calls me my given name and I call him his. Only the occasional "dear". We are old and boring.

    3. I stand corrected. I brought my husband a cup of tea this evening and he said, "Thanks love." Still boring maybe but wonderful all the same.

  7. My husband calls me "chick" and I call him "jade", "jadie" or "Jade Bear". I can't remember where jade came from. We have numerous names for our white maine coon kitties, they kind of rule the roost around here. Love that photo of your daughter with the deer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. See, I like chick..seems younger more vibrant than Mom. Em is actually feeding a baby llama. That sucker could drink the whole bottle in under a minute. Very sweet.

  9. I always wished for a really cool nickname. By the time I got to 10th grade I was about to suggest it to my friends and then a boy confided in us at the bus stop that he'd always wanted to be called "Ace." We tried to hold it in but by the time we were getting off the bus at school we were overcome with giggles.
I don't think you can ask for a nickname, although I was once introduced to a lady who said"Oh, just call me Gorgeous," and I found this impressive in a weird way.

  10. I always wanted a really cool nickname too but my dad called me chubs when I was a baby and husby calls me doc, not very romantic unless you think doctor of love, and even then ... I "flew" a fighter demonstrator once and was given the call sign vicious.

I call husby honey or honey bunny, which is a problem when I'm mad at him.

So I just went to look up Ma and ended up learning about Ma Barker and her four or five sons, eek.

How's about Boo Boo? I always thought that sweet.
